What makes it an eco yarn is that 20% of the yarn is made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles.  It's nice to know that we are helping the environment when we purchase this yarn but that good feeling runs out pretty quick when you start to get these very noticeable white knots or puffs or balls.  Whatever you want to call them they are a pain in the neck.  Unless you get Ecru(which is the same color as the puffs) you will accrue serious stress when you get into your project.  Pulling the white puffs will only result in messy yarn and so your only resolve will be to cut each and every of the very many puffs as you work on your project.  Oh and did I talk about the splitting?  I have only crocheted with this yarn so I don't know if the splitting is less when knitting.

The package states that if you use this yarn to make an afghan you will keep 10 bottles out of the landfills.  After all the work put into making it presentable for wearable projects, I just have to say that it's not worth it.

This yarn too has a nice sheen and is pretty soft but the splitting leaves one wanting to throw this skein to the moon.  If you are making an afghan you might be inclined to take the yarn back.  I mean, the one thing I really love about crocheting is that I can do it while watching tv or talking with family and friends.  With that being said, the last thing I want to have to do it watch every stitch to make sure that I don't leave strands sticking out.  That is so not relaxing.
